Presentation Description:

Buckling Restrained Brace Frames (BRBF) have become a leading braced frame system in areas of moderate to high seismicity due to their superior performance and their economic benefits. Provisions for the design of BRBF are established in AISC 341 and ASCE 7. This presentation will discuss the fundamentals of BRBF along with explanations of recent code updates that are relevant to engineers incorporating them in their design. Some advanced topics will also be presented, including fatigue-life analysis and resiliency design options.
