Presentation Summary:

The SEAoT Dallas and Fort Worth chapters are proud to offer a joint presentation on the new National Medal of Honor Museum project from the perspectives of the engineer of record, steel erection engineer, erection sequencing engineer, and contractor. Our speakers will describe the overall project goals and challenges from their different perspectives.

About the Speakers: 

Rebecca Burleson, PhD with LINBECK (General Contractor) - Rebecca Burleson is a Sr. VP/Client Executive with Linbeck in Fort Worth, Texas.  Becky graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Building Science and a Masters in Civil Engineering & Construction Management.  She completed her PhD in Engineering at the University of Texas in Austin.  Dr. Burleson was a member of the faculty in the Auburn University, College of Architecture, Design and Construction for 13 years before joining Linbeck in 2001.  Since joining Linbeck, Becky has served as a project manager, preconstruction manager, client executive, and Vice President.  She has played a critical role in the completion of a long list of iconic projects with internationally renowned architects including the Winspear Opera House, Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, The Witte Museum, and currently the National Medal of Honor Museum.  

Robert Hellyer, PE with Schlaich Bergermann Partner (Engineer of Record)Robert Hellyer, P.E. is an Associate Director at Schlaich Bergermann Partner's New York office. He oversees complex technical issues and large-scale projects, including lightweight and cable-supported structures, long span roofs, complex cable net and grid shell design solutions, and structural glass. With over a decade of engineering experience, Robert’s expertise and technical savvy have played an important role in supporting sbp’s most ambitious projects. He is the Project Manager for the 105,000 sf National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, Texas, which is currently under construction.

Brent Hungerford, PE with Walter P. Moore (Erection Sequencing Engineer)Brent is a Principal in the Walter P Moore Construction Engineering Services group in Austin. He is well-versed in structural and software engineering, applying automation and interoperability to structural engineering projects. With 20 years of experience from schools to stadiums, combined with his knowledge of connection design, erection engineering, and practical fabrication and construction practices, Brent has been the project manager on the successful deliveries many projects, including the National Medal of Honor Museum, Global Wafers manufacturing facility, and Geodis (Nashville SC soccer) stadium.

Carl Williams with Bosworth Steel Erectors (Steel Erection Engineer)Carl Williams graduated from Texas Tech University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He has been a licensed PE since January 1992. Carl went to work for Derr Construction Co. following graduation. At Derr, he was introduced to all aspects of steel and precast construction. After 19 years of steel erection, Carl made a move to fabrication as V.P. of Operations for North Texas Steel Company in Fort Worth. After North Texas Steel closed its doors, he became V.P. of Field Operations for Alpha Industries, a fabricator in McKinney, TX. After 6 years of fabrication experience, Carl finally returned to his roots and went back to being a steel erector in September 2011. He is currently Director of Preconstruction and Engineering for Bosworth Steel Erectors. Carl has obtained extensive experience with fabricating and erecting large and complex structures.
