Mr. Janacek will present on Earth Retention Selection and Coordination. Selecting the appropriate permanent or temporary shoring or retaining wall system for a project involves multiple factors. This presentation reviews the factors that impact the earth retention design, site development, construction sequencing, aesthetics, life-cycle performance, and future use. The importance of communication is highlighted and key coordination points throughout the project are identified and discussed.

About the Speakers:

Mr. Janacek has 23 years of experience in the construction and civil engineering industry and serves as a Principal for ECS Southwest, LLP. He has extensive experience in geotechnical and structural assessment and design. Mr. Janacek’s areas of expertise include retaining wall design /assessment / stabilization / asset management, ground improvement, underpinning, and deep foundation design. He has served as a technical lead in multiple design-build projects, design engineer of record, owner’s reviewer, expert witness, and resident engineer for construction. Mr. Janacek graduated from Texas A&M with a BS in Civil Engineering and from UTA with a MS in Civil Engineering.
