Detailing the miscellaneous steel required to support today’s different types of facades is challenging. This presentation will help guide the practicing structural engineer to provide details in his/her Contract Documents that will be constructable, perform well over time, and be coordinated with the architectural details.
We will specifically look at:
· Creating details that provide adequate field tolerances
· Ensuring there is proper resistance to rotation in these details
· Address deflection criteria for different system
· Proper jointing in our details to allow thermal movement changes
Those in attendance should obtain a better comprehension of how to detail façade support steel for multi-story buildings, and to be sure the primary structure is properly sized to carry the additional façade loads.
