Presentation Summary:

We take look back at building vibration-related projects Dr. Lamb has been involved with over the past 12 years and present take-aways that Structural Engineers find useful when assessing whether and when to bring a vibration consultant onto the team. We look at some building vibration challenges, solutions, and some problems that don’t have solutions

About the Speakers:

Dr. Lamb has a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering. After working with Datum Engineers in Dallas for three years, he returned to the University of Texas at Austin for his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, focusing on structural dynamics and vibration.

Dr. Lamb worked for The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Maryland for 15 years performing structural dynamics analyses and tests of various ship- and submarine-launched Navy missile systems. He also taught graduate courses in Dynamics and Vibration in the evenings for The Johns Hopkins Mechanical Engineering Department for 10 years.

Jay returned to Dallas in 2011 and is a Vibration Consultant for AG&E Associates. His work includes structural dynamics analysis of structures, on-site vibration measurement and evaluation, and design of vibration mitigation systems such as tuned mass dampers and vibration isolation systems.
